On Thursday 29th July 2021, we host Community Chat on Telegram, here is a recap of the conversation.

Yvonne Kagondu: [00:00:00] I’ll just read out the question. Do you have a global ambassador program? If yes. How can I participate and be an Ambassador? That’s from Medurai from India.

Shane Benjamin: [00:00:15]We don’t particularly have an ambassador program right now, but, um, Emmanuel, do you have any thoughts on that? If some that we can put in place in the future or what that would look like, I’ll let Emmanuel jump on.

Emmanuel Aremu: [00:00:27] Yeah, absolutely. I think definitely in the future, it's something we want to do right.

Even the people who’ve been selected for the Super Fans, the Beta program, are very global. We’ve got quite a global community already. So, we want to make sure we have enough things from a product perspective and obviously be a little bit further along to uh, equip all the ambassadors with everything they would need to get up running.

Yvonne: [00:01:05] Yes. But the Beta Portal and for the Super Fans are super interesting, we encourage everyone to be active and to participate and join us. The second question is hello, why does porta choose to build on Polkadot? Isn’t Cosmos ecosystem, most suitable for developing web3 apps?

Shane: [00:01:36] Okay, so that’s a bit technical. So I’ll jump on that one. I’m not sure I haven’t taken a deep look into the cosmos ecosystem, but we’re not particularly building on Polkadot we’re building, using Substrate. We’re building another blockchain.

We’re using Substrate as the base. I can speak directly about the technical advantages of using Substrate. The whole modular aspect of Substrate gives us the power to build and to upgrade our blockchain as we see fit as it works for the community.

If we need a new type of functionality, as opposed to rebuilding a blockchain from the ground up, we get to simply create a pallet is what they call in Substrate. Then integrate that into our blockchain and be able to add new functionality. We found that that to be a very powerful tool in our development cycle.

That was the reason why we chose to go with Substrate, which was developed by Polkadot and when we building on a Polkadot network, either way on Polkadot and Kusama, there are no smart contracts is just a relay chain. It allows other Substrate based blockchains to be able to speak to each other.

We just feel like, from a technical perspective, Substrate just happened to be the best product that we’ve seen available to develop our blockchain on.

Yvonne: [00:05:18] So, two questions, one from Sanket N. What are some major features? What are some major features will Porta introduce? All these blockchains? What will put it ahead of its competitors?

Shane: The way we plan to differentiate ourselves from other blockchains is that we’re focusing on design, especially for the user. In Ethereum and Binance Smart chain, which are pretty much the same. Solana, they’re are very developer heavy.

It’s not intuitive to be developing or using their products. That way we intend to different as ourselves is to. Our aim is to create a platform that’s super simple to use, we are designing it from the ground up for people that are, that are mid to late level crypto or blockchain users, but our goal is eventually to get down to entry-level and to make it super simple, cheap, and easy to interact with blockchain products on the Porta Network.

We’re designing it from the ground up for the masses. Since we have the advantage of doing that and then working our way down to the general public, we want everyone to have access to web3 and to have the products and advantages that come with that.

We’re building the wallet you’re going to use. We’re building the blockchain itself. We’re going to be building our flagship products as well. Just make sure that we’ll be able to give you a cohesive, that functions and that works well together with the goal of facilitating that interaction.

Yvonne: [00:08:29] Thank you. The next question is from MedU Ray. What is the main mission of Porta? Which technology is used by Porta to make it more secure, easy to use and more flexible?

Emmanuel: [00:09:14] The main mission is to facilitate that transition for a lot of people from web2 or web3. At the moment, it’s quite cumbersome to a lot of people who don’t have the time, or energy to look after the, you know, seed phrases or find wallets. We are aiming to make it as seamless as possible for anyone to access, whether it is DeFi, NFTs and all the from web3.

Shane: [00:10:18] Onto the technical part, we will be using Substrate. It’s pretty robust as a platform in terms of security. We’re also taking as many security precautions as we can. As we spoke about flexibility, it is really important that we get to add new modules.

That’s what I mentioned earlier, by building on Substrate. We are able to add pallets to our blockchain, which would facilitate the updating process and also create new functionalities and add them to the chain.

Yvonne: [00:11:24] The next question is from Errol, one of, uh, Superfans, When the DeFi lending project start, would be around Mainnet or is it around Testnet?

Shane: [00:11:48] The DeFi aspects of the platform probably going to be pushed back for right now, we’re going to focus on creating or making sure that people can build on the platform at this point. We will have a flagship product that's a surprise for now. If you really want to know, about what’s going to be happening, what’s going to happen behind the scenes with our new products and what we’re pushing out quickly.

Then you should definitely sign up for the Beta Program — it is still open, so please sign up!

Yvonne: [00:13:10] The next question is also from a Superfan what plans do you have to increase the trading volume in particular on PancakeSwap? How can we attract new holders?

Emmanuel: [00:13:46] What the most important thing is, is really to provide utility of the token. That’s why we focused on a, getting our Testnet and start to build our developer ecosystem.

After that it is Staking, staking, staking, it is going to be incredibly important to the community.

Obviously, allow everyone in this chat and everyone who is supporting the project. As I have mentioned in previous AMAs, that we’ve done staking before just didn’t really deliver the results we wanted. We’re going to be focusing on really implementing that to, to make that as seamless as possible.

Obviously, we can explore exchange listing options down the road, but we really wanted to focus on delivering products. This sets the foundation for us moving forward.

Looking ahead, we want anyone who enters the ecosystem, to get rewarded for staking or being an active member of the community.

Yvonne: [00:16:34] Jen Johanne is asking, for app developers instead of having to do the harder coding parts can they can use already created or coded features in their apps?

Shane: [00:17:01] You’re right on the money with that, we plan in the future to create services. What we will call blockchain services, but that is further down the line. We have a lot of infrastructure to build before that, but this is a primary end goal to allow people to the person, not have to know a huge amount about the blockchain, to be able to build products with it.

They just have to take their already existing knowledge and then be able to build blockchain applications on Porta, for the Porta economy, and Porta ecosystem.

That’s really what we’re trying to get to the end of the day. When you make it easy for developers to adopt and build amazing products for everyone in the community. But even if we do that, we’re going to attract more developers, more users, and have more services to be able to provide to the community.

You should see Porta in the future as more of a software product company in the sense of providing, blockchain web3 services similar to AWS.

Yvonne: [00:18:50] The next question is any surprises of a new exchange listed today?

Emmanuel: [00:19:05] I’ll take this one. We want to make sure that we listed on the bigger exchanges rather than listing on too many exchanges.

It doesn’t really make sense for us to do that. I think for us and, uh, and, um, and the community. We want to make sure that people can discover our token in as many high-profile places. Obviously there’s some groundwork we need to do and we are making progress towards that.

Before we circle back to some of the bigger exchanges, but we’ve had conversations with, so it’s not completely gone off our plans is just want to make sure we focus on delivering product. I even forgot to mention airdrops — airdrops are coming to the community.

We want to make sure we deliver on all of those things before we start to expand, the number of exchanges we’re listed on this, whether they’re decentralized or centralized exchanges.

Yvonne: [00:20:34] Yeah, I think I can also, I could also say that we don’t want to be just another exchange.

You want to add value, we just can’t just be a pump and dump coin. So for us, it’s creating more, more value, making sure that our product has use cases that are actually and be beneficial to our community.

The next question Stanford is asking. Can you please comment about the blockchain Testnet scheduled for Q3?

Shane: [00:21:35] It’s coming out in Q3 2021.

Yvonne: [00:21:43] Okay. So please stay tuned to our social media channels, including our telegram, this Telegram channel, or Telegram announcement channel, our Twitter and our instagram. Yep.

Another question, is the proposed Porta token be available via Testnet?

Shane: [00:22:06] So naturally there’s going to be a token on Testnet. I’m not saying that you’re going to be able to trade that, or that we even going to list that. It’s just going to be a token that you’re going to be able to use, to test and develop on the Porta and that’s fine.

Yvonne: [00:22:51] For the next question, does the design feature of the blockchain, will you support users who have no access to a computer? Like BSC, is that using a mobile app? Like trust wallet? Almost anyone with a smartphone can interact with dapps on BSC.

Is Binance Smart Chain an intended goal for Porta?

Shane: [00:23:27] Our goal is, is to make it accessible to everyone everywhere on all platforms. It will be mobile if we can have dApps that interacts with that, we’d also want to allow you to stake and so on and our platform as well.

Yvonne: [00:23:49] The next question is from Sanket. Are there any dApps currently in the Porta ecosystem?

Emmanuel: [00:24:10] We don’t have any dApps currently in the Porta ecosystem. As we gear up towards Mainnet and beyond there will be lot of things we do with DeFi.

We definitely have some ideas for allowing dApps to connect to our blockchain or ecosystem, whilst also building our own own dApps.

The next part of his question was — are there any docs or reading materials to learn more about Porta? Yes, so we do have recent interviews, blogs on Medium about, what we’re doing, what the mission is for this quarter and beyond.

From a developer perspective, I know we recently had Robert join our development team and he’s really been spearheading some of the docs that’s coming out from a developer perspective, that will help people get up and running with building on our blockchain. As we ramp towards Testnet that being done, uh, there’ll be a lot more content from us to really help people get up to speed with the ecosystem and make the most out of Porta.

Another question: Can you tell me more about the Super Fan and Beta Program?

Yvonne: [00:27:14] Just being active in the community, helping us out to the engagement. Like any aspect, what non of our Super Fans, I did, for example, DM Shoo, who was added because he gave us really positive criticism on our project and we felt it was super helpful. And also, the, the members Johanne, Is, and Chef and everyone has really been super supportive and sharing love.

Is it really merit. This is just being a fun, a super fan being about the project. Yeah, I would love to have you on board.

Emmanuel: [00:28:34] The activities are such as sharing opinions and feedback on some of the initiatives coming through. Whether it’s staking airdrops give us the unvarnished feedback as well, to help the development team.

Yvonne: [00:29:14] We also check on analytics. We have a bot analytics on terms of conversations in the community. Next question, I hope I’m saying the name correctly is asking what is Porta’s roadmap for the year 2021 and can you tell us your recent partnership deals and how big they are?

Shane: [00:29:51] The roadmap on a website. As time comes goes along, maybe we may add a developer roadmap. And in terms of partnerships, well, if you’re not a part of the Beta or the Super Fan programs, updates on that are ongoing, I hope you notice we’re kind of really pushing this Beta & Super Fan programs — as we really want to see who the diehard people are at this point!

So try and apply for that once it’s open again, and then you’ll be able to get these behind the scenes news. But if not, then we’re going to let you know I’m on all partnerships and everything, as it comes out, through Twitter and all of our other social media platforms for that.

Yvonne: [00:30:46] Johanne is agreeing with my point. I think it was on the, on the pump and dump coins.

Yvonne: [00:31:30] We have a request from. Please update the info on CoinmarketCap and Coingecko and add local on Trust Wallet. It’s our business card for professional appearance.

Shane: [00:31:48] Yes. Let’s just note that and we’re going to get that done.

Yvonne: [00:31:55] Okay. We’ll get it that, thank you for the suggestion. Sure. Thanks Chef. Okay, this one question just popped up from Sanket. Why Porta choose to, build as a separate blockchain. As new blockchain suffer at initials to just to build ecosystem. What are your thoughts on it? Couldnt building as L2 to our side chain on Ethreuem, we’ll have fulfilled Porta goal to provide access of web3 to new users?

For example, you can also checkout Metis. They’re providing one click templates to launch taps on the ecosystem would love to have your thoughts on that.

Shane: [00:32:42] Yeah, I’ll take that one. Yeah. I get that definitely a lot of platforms that are building on Ethereum right now, but as you can see, Ethereum, has some lag in a lot of its development cycles.

If ever, we are trying to build something or push or make advancements in a certain area, we would have to wait until they up to that point or get to a place where we will be able to do that. And for us, what we believe is the best thing to do is to have as much control as possible.

We also understand that this could mean moving a bit slower, but the advantages that we move with quality, as opposed to like having to some type of makeshift development to make it work with a separate platform. We’re actually building each one of the products that we are focusing on our core products to be able to work seamlessly together.

I think the best comparison to the direction that we want to take would be Apple. I don’t know how anyone feels about apple. I’m not trying to start a war in the chat. Like some people have apple windows, Linux. Yeah, we, we just think that apple does branding and development very well.

So that’s that, that’s the example that I usually use with the team. Now they have a strong ecosystem. So if you have an iPhone, an iPad and an and a Mac, then you can generally see how well those products work together. So as opposed to, if you use Android has integrated with Android, integrates with windows, and then they have their own tablet with a bunch of different developers and so on.

So what if I have to draw a comparison? I would say Ethereum is kind of like. That Android space. It has a huge portion of the market, but in terms of integration with other services and other platforms, it’s not the most well-integrated. And we’re trying to be the apple of that space. Whereas all of our products, we may move a bit slower, but when we move, we move right.

That, that thing is super well integrated. You can feel like everything was taken into account that we thought about every little aspect when we built all that products and our solution. And that’s something that we can’t do if we build on another platform or if you try to integrate with another service.

That’s basically the reason why we chose to build out a separate blockchain, as opposed to building on an already existing one on our ecosystem. We want that ecosystem to be super well adapted for our community. And yeah, I think that probably answers the question.

Trying to build a strong brand, strong ecosystem. So that’s why we’re going that direction. [00:36:00] Um, yeah, I have an Android too. Also I have an iPhone. I don’t know which I prefer. Good to have peace.

Shane: [00:38:19] We appreciate you all. Thank you.

Emmanuel: [00:38:23] Keep an eye on next week. You never know what’s coming around the corner.

Shane: [00:38:28] Yeah. Great. I don’t know, Emmanuel.

All right. Thanks everyone. Thanks everyone. Thank you guys for coming once again, and yeah, it’s really great. Having your own communities. Super nice to see someone being active. Much activity in a chat these last few days. We appreciate you are really trying to build out. We’re really working on building out some amazing [00:39:00] products for you all and yeah, we’re looking forward to that, right.

To get you all on board with the new products and the new platforms. We have a lot of things in the pipeline, and we’re going to try and get that to you as soon as possible. Thanks again for being the community.
